Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

During his third year in college, Dr. Jung decided to pursue a career as a dentist while he was shadowing various kinds of doctors. He witnessed how dentists were able to build much stronger relationships with their patients at a level he didn’t expect. Not only did he have a desire to become a trusted healthcare provider, but he also wanted the opportunity to strengthen interpersonal connections. In the end, dentistry was the clear choice, and he’s never looked back since!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Jung began his career in the dental field by attending the University of New England and later earning his dental doctorate from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. He’s also had experience working as a dental lab technician for a year and a half, and he underwent an externship at a non-profit clinic in northern Maine for a year.

He regularly pursues continuing education to refine his skills and expertise, having undergone advanced training in implant dentistry as well as becoming SureSmile certified. He also remains up-to-date with the latest progress in the dental field through his active membership in several professional organizations, including the:

  • American Dental Association
  • Maine Dental Association
  • Academy of General Dentistry

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Jung grew up with 3 brothers, a sister, and two pastors for parents. He is extremely proud of his religious background, as he feels it helped shape him into the person he is today. Currently, he and his siblings live separately throughout the United States and South Korea, but he hopes for all of them to one day live in closer proximity to spend more time together. Other than being with loved ones and participating in church activities, he also enjoys listening to music and dancing. One interesting fact about him: his name was given to him by a very respected and famous member of his church—of which fewer than 100 people in the world were given their names by this person!
